Thoughts on the (first) Souper Jenny Kindness Tour

It’s been two weeks since the return from my six-week sabbatical on the kindness tour. I’ve had some time to reflect and digest what it all meant. And of course, contemplate what’s next!

It was the first time ever that I left my business for an extended period of time, and let me just say, every store ran like I was still doing a daily check-in! My team rocked it, and I am so grateful that they treat the business like it’s their own.

I've been inspired by local cuisine and ingredients in all of my travels. However, you've probably seen some additions to our regular menu recently based on the kindness tour.

Keith and I searched for the best ribs on Wednesday. And when I researched some soups, I found this gem. It comes from The Rieger in Kansas City, which unfortunately shut their doors at the end of October.

The Souper Jenny Kindness Tour: An Introduction

ABOUT THE SOUPER JENNY KINDNESS TOUR:

The need for love and kindness, generosity and benevolence, has never been greater. Not in our lifetimes. During this time of COVID and systemic racism coming to the forefront,  I’ve felt the loss, the division, the fear and uncertainty, the illness, the injustices befalling our country and our communities. And I feel a call to action.

Many of you know that my culinary life started with a tour around the world. Meeting people and learning their recipes and stories along the way. Now is my time to give back. So, here I go! I am going to take a 6-week sabbatical from my restaurant life and hit the road. My plan is to do some good.

I am challenging others to offer random acts of kindness, and looking for donations, as well. Check out my gofundme page to learn more!
