As I write this, I can barely believe that it’s almost the end of July. I, like many of us, have been living in a whirlwind since mid-March. Alternating between the reality that our world is forever changed and the simple state of business survival. I’m one of the lucky ones. I have a sustainable business model that can pivot to what is now required, but I’m not going to lie to you, some days are rough. I am trying to be a good leader for my, roughly 40 employees, but I see their fears and I have my own…

Fear of the unknown. Fear of getting sick or getting someone else sick. Fear about our families. Fear about the future.

It’s not how I imagined 2020.

I’ve been on a quest for the past year to REMOVE SINGLE-USE PLASTICS from our restaurants. I thought this would be pretty easy! Get rid of straws, use compostable soup containers and make a bigger effort to guide people to recycle when possible. Sadly, this has been an exercise in how naive I still am about what it takes to save the planet.

I met Denise watching her in the Atlanta theater scene and have always loved her energy. She helped us open the Decatur location and she worked on and off as a server over the years. We would love her to work full-time but she is too busy with her fantastic job at humorologies and her other passionate. I am beyond thrilled that she’s able to join us for All’s Fair in Love & Soup! What can I say about the incredible, Bill Newberry? Maybe that I've known him forever, and that we wouldn't be able to do our cabarets without him on piano! If you don't know Bill, you should! Shining a light on BILL NEWBERRY!

Oh my gosh, what to say about the outrageous MERRIDETH??!! I mean you’ve seen her antics and heard her sing as you waited in line at most of our locations, and now she’s back in Brookhaven. I’m so happy to have her energy and enthusiasm around. And I’m sure each of you has your own Merrideth story! But in the meantime, let’s here more directly from MERRIDETH ZIESSE!

Eric started as a server at the original Souper Jenny in Buckhead 2005, and over time, his skill in operations and all things financial allowed me to create a CFO position just for him in 2013. The one constant? He’s always performed in our cabarets! Happy to have him out of the office and back on stage for All’s Fair in Love and Soup. But Eric, I do need you to get back to your desk immediately afterwards! :) Shining a spotlight on ERIC MILLER!
