It's been a long time since I shared our most beloved Turkey Chili recipe! Since my Dad is about to turn 91 and he is the man behind our most popular soup, it seemed like a great time to share!
MY DAD’S TURKEY CHILI
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 large red onion, peeled and chopped
1 red pepper, 1 green pepper, 1 yellow pepper, cleaned and chopped
2 pounds lean ground turkey
2 tablespoons dark chili powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
Two 28-ounce cans of crushed tomatoes
One small can of EACH white beans, kidney beans, chili beans & black beans. All drained, except the chili beans.
Salt & pepper
Heat a heavy duty pot. Add oil. Saute onion and peppers until soft. Add ground turkey with three teaspoons salt and cook all the way through. Add chili powder and brown sugar. Add tomatoes and simmer on low about 15 minutes. Add all beans and simmer on low another 30 minutes. Add salt, pepper and hot sauce, to taste
